Nakirya Lilian :,Director and co founder of Don Bosco children’s ministries.
I grew up with both loving, catholic and caring parents who would welcome everyone into their home whether strangers or visitors, so at home we lived many children whom we were not related to but one could not tell whether they are not born with in our family because we were all treated equally so I leant that loving and caring the underprivileged is such a blessing!!!
Most touching story was when my mother took care of severely burnt baby who was abandoned by her mother, they took care of her hospital bills and as well enrolled her in school until she was in primary five out of the blue her mother came up and wanted take this girl but she chose to stay at home because of the love and care we all showered her at our home, That’s when I knew I wanted to provide humanitarian and social work services to those who are needy especially the children because they are innocent!!! When I joined Makerere university i enrolled enrolled for a bachelors Degree of community psychology, I right away started doing charity work in the ghetto areas surrounding my university so when I graduated I started volunteered in different NGOs where I gained more experience later we registered our own organization named DBCMI which was basically to serve the children and women in my community I really believe charity begins at home because it’s where I got my inspiration from.
I have been able to help over 80 children enroll in school by finding them sponsors for their education through reaching out to my online Facebook friends because I believe Education is the key out of poverty”, I have helped many families get, food security, Better housing, clean waterways projects for my community, Women empowerment projects have been put in place for low income earners amongst many more, we have so many positive and testimonial stories hopefully you can read about them on our website!!
I hope to provide shelter to many more homeless children by building a bigger orphanage in the future.
We hope to construct a community school public school where all children will get a chance to get free education. My biggest quote that inspires every day” It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving”
Like our patron saint Don Bosco it’s not enough to love the young they must feel that they are loved as well, We have a lot to achieve in order to help the youth reach their full Potential so we kindly call upon all Good Samaritan who can reach a hand to join our team every little bit helps us
