In line with the policies and guidelines of the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD), DBCMI supported the provision of 6 core program areas (CPAs) to OVC in Kampala and Wakiso District. These CPAs included: i) Economic strengthening, ii) Food and nutrition security, iii) Education support, iv) Health, water, sanitation and shelter, v) child protection and legal support and vi) psychosocial support and basic care. These services were tailored to the individual OVC needs, with attention to gender specific issues. The beneficiaries of OVC services were identified from HIV/AIDS infected parents and affected families, referrals from other community service providers, local authority and IDPs. The organization has worked closely with other OVC service providers to in the provision of OVC services, linkages and referral of OVC for additional services which are not directly supported by DBCMI.
