Addressing Vulnerability

When individuals, households and communities fail to cope with or respond to man-made or natural occurring adverse situations for an extended period of time, they are considered vulnerable. Gender constructs, physical location, political and socio-economic factors often reinforce vulnerability and short-term interventions tend to be unsuccessful in addressing the resulting vulnerability.

In Uganda, Don Bosco Children Ministries International is set to implement holistic, long term interventions, designed to reduce vulnerability of more than 4,000 critically and moderately vulnerable children and their families in different parts of Uganda. These programs focus on the socio-economic improvements; food security and nutrition support, child protection; and supporting access to critical services such as health and education. The organization through trainings equips the beneficiaries with knowledge and skills to progressively transition out of vulnerability into sustainable livelihoods, instead of waiting of government support services.
