Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

DBCMI works with partners to implement water, sanitation and hygiene programs so as to promote individuals’ health and wellbeing. In observation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in particular; SDG 3: Good health and wellbeing and SDG6: Clean water and sanitation, we are contributing to Governments in East Africa efforts to promote WASH, health and wellbeing of the poorest and vulnerable in our supported schools and local communities with in Kampala, Wakiso and other parts of the country.

The organization ensures that it works with other partners to train people in sanitation and hygiene, supplying safe and clean drinking water amongst vulnerable and impoverished communities in Uganda. This is done through constructing water facilities, maintaining robust water supply facilities and ensuring that a holistic WASH program is delivered in all partner communities and the schools.

WASH activities were also integrated into other programme areas, for example under Women Empowerment, selected different villages of Wakiso and Kampala in central part of Uganda were not only sensitized in key aspects of WASH but also child protection and legal support. Subsequently 4 groups were established to promote and advocate for child rights. These focus on alleviating education barriers faced by school going children especially girls.
